"I'm not interested in making a film about goodies and baddies, I want to make a film about human beings in all of their rich and troubling complexity. We didn’t want to demonize the scientists, but it was important, because we were telling it from the triplets’ perspective and their families’ perspective, to acknowledge that what the study did was hugely damaging on a personal level."
